Cobleigh Library FAQ
1. Does the Cobleigh Library have public access computers and WiFi? And do you have any chargers for cellular devices or smartphones?
Yes, we have seven computers available in the library for public use (five upstairs, one on the first floor, and one downstairs in the children’s room). We also offer free WiFi (no password required) in every part of the building, and we have 10 chargers that can be used inside the building for people who need to charge their smartphones or cellular devices.
2. Can I get a book from another library if you do not have it in the Cobleigh collection?
Yes, the library participates in the Vermont Interlibrary Loan Service program, which allows us to borrow items from other libraries in the state. Patrons are welcome to make up to six interlibrary loan requests every month. Feel free to make a request by phone (802-626-5475) or email us at info@cobleighlibrary.org.
3. Do you host any storytimes, book clubs, or special events?
Yes, we host two storytimes for kids (ages 0-6) every week on Tuesdays at 4 pm and Wednesdays at 10 am, as well as a Baby/Toddler Play Group on Fridays at 10 am. Additionally, the library offers a program called “My Favorite Book,” in which kids can bring a favorite story from home, and then our Youth Librarian will read it aloud to the group. Children also get to pick out a new book to keep! Similarly, we host three different book clubs (the Cobleigh Book Club, a Romance Book Club, and the Cozy Cat Book Club for Kids), as well as groups like the Spanish Conversation Club, Scrabble Night, and Chess Club on Thursday evenings. We also love offering new special programs & activities every month, so please look at our calendar of events here to see what we have planned.
4. How much does it cost for a library card, and do I have to be a resident of Lyndon to get one?
Library cards are completely free and available for anyone who wants one. We do not charge non-resident fees, so even people who live outside of Lyndon (or the state of Vermont) are welcome to sign up for a library card.
5. What areas or towns does the bookmobile visit?
Our bookmobile visits schools, daycares, public parks, and nursing homes on a weekly basis. Please send an email to bookmobile@cobleighlibrary.org if you would like a copy of the bookmobile’s schedule or if you are interested in having the bookmobile visit your facility.
6. Can I hold a private meeting at the library?
If you would like to reserve one of our meeting areas, please call 802-626-5475 or email info@cobleighlibrary.org to see if the space is available for your preferred date and time.
7. Is the library handicapped accessible?
Yes, there are two handicapped accessible parking spaces on the Main Street side of the library, and our elevator is accessible through the entrance on the same side of the building. The elevator serves all three floors, and our bathrooms are ADA approved.
8. Does the library accept book donations?
The library only accepts book donations between August and October for our annual Book Sale. We do not accept textbooks, encyclopedias, magazines, or Reader’s Digest Condensed books.
9. What services does the library provide to the community?
Do you need to have a document notarized? We can help! Director Kaitlin Wood is an authorized notary in the state of Vermont, and she is happy to provide this service for free to anyone who needs it. We also provide several other services at the library, including scanning, faxing, printing, copying, computer assistance, research help, and more! Please email us at info@cobleighlibrary.org if you have any questions.
10. Aside from books, what other items are available to be checked out at the library?
We have many items that can be checked out from our “Library of Things” collection, which is comprised of unconventional objects like a blood pressure monitor, microscope, a basketball, a cornhole set, and more! You can see our full list below:
